Work It! A Ris Mini-sode

Hello, listeners - in this “mini-sode” (which is like 25 minutes long, so maybe not so “mini” Lol), Ris talks about work, her job outside the home specifically. Hopefully nothing that gets her fired.

Please listen and enjoy!

An MB Spectacular!

Hello Listeners! In this episode, Babs catches up with MB IN-PERSON on all the exciting happenings in his life over the past month. If you want to be in the know, please listen and enjoy!

Babs on Climate

Another Babs mini-sode, focusing on her current passion: the climate crisis. She holds a large mirror up to herself, so don’t think you alone are being judged. Honestly, this episode shares some of what Babs found to be some relevant and interesting information from The Climate Book by Greta Thunberg (a book of climate-related essays by experts in their fields). This is Part One. There will ultimately be five parts. Please listen, (learn), and enjoy!

Big Things, Baby Birds, Birthdays, and More!

In this episode, Ris and Babs do a fair amount of life sharing on some big things (like taxes) and talk about some big things (intelligence leaks and of course a little climate-related chatter), but the best part of this episode is MBs Corner with baby birds (guest starring MB’s parents), birthday plans and more! Please listen and enjoy!

Babs in the Big Apple

Welcome to another Babs mini-sode. In this episode Babs regales you with her recent NYC trip. Hence, Babs in the Big Apple. There’s shopping and theater and Trump. There might have been a promise of more, but you will just have to drop a comment or send a email if you miss what was missing. Please listen and enjoy!

Disappointments Abound

In this episode, Ris and Babs talk about the disappointments of the Oscars, the Silicon Valley Bank failure, the Seaweed Blob heading to the Gulf of Mexico, the Climate Crisis, and more. MB joins them for MB’s Corner. Please listen and enjoy!

The One Where Babs Made a Boo Boo

Hello A Walk in the Park Podcast listeners! In this episode Babs explains some things that are Currently on Her Mind, that she is Currently Consuming, and a couple of Life Shares (aka the Season Six Segments). And we once again have MB back for MB’s Corner! Please listen and enjoy.

A Minisode by Babs

Thanks to Delta travel delays, this podcast episode is a Babs Mini-sode. If you enjoy hearing Babs talk about the climate crisis and what she is doing about it, want to hear her thoughts on the recent Chinese spy balloon situation or on Michelle Obama’s new book - The Light We Carry, some Super Bowl musings, and other things happening in her life, then please listen and enjoy!

Debt, Decisions, Dystopia

In this episode Ris and Babs discuss the current debt ceiling crisis and the one trillion platinum coin, climate fiction (Goodbye, Florida!), Facebook memories, college decisions, crazy work drama, and yes, sports! Tom Brady retired for the second (and probably last) time and Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open! It’s always an eclectic list of topics because that’s how we roll. Hurrah!

Our 100th Episode

We’ve been doing this podcast for a fair amount of time at this point and have reached our official 100th episode! In honor of this accomplishment, we are trying to change up our format with some newly introduced segments to give our podcast more consistency on what you, the listener, can expect. The segments are: “Currently on Our Minds”; “Currently Consuming”; “Life Shares”; and of course, “Sports.”

In this episode Ris and Babs discuss Climate Change, standards of care in the medical community, TV shows, books, and family travels to Argentina (Babs) and Italy (Ris). We talked for so long that we didn’t even get to that much sports talk!

Nine-Nine!

We suspect that no one has really missed us BUT as this is our 99th episode (not including “Pre-Season episodes back at the beginning in 2018), we are making a pledge to up our game for the next and official 100th episode! (With the long-term goals of higher quality recordings, more consistency and a regular and engaged audience.)

For now, in this episode, Ris, Babs, and MB cover Hurricane Ian, sports (including Major League Pickleball expansion - Would Gronk be good at pickleball?) , upcoming travel and the holiday season. It’s always an eclectic group of topics because that’s how we roll.

The Summer Got Away From Us

We are busy people in the summer, and it is challenging to sync up our schedules. But Ris and Babs did go on their annual girl’s beach trip. On the roads of Alabummer, they weave their way through the local, national, and international, worrying about the vineyards in France, waxing philosophical about civilization and discomfort, and reminiscing about the beginnings of the Seaside Sisters. [Guest appearance by JoJo]

Soap Boxes, Chief of Disguise

In this episode, Ris, Babs, and MB bounce around from summer air travel woes to the Supreme Court and other current events, including of course, Wimbledon — and what IS the beef between Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas? Throw in the CIA and Chief of Disguise talk and we have ourselves an episode!

Please listen and enjoy!

Jesus Loved Pickles

This is a very special episode because Ris and Babs were podcasting in person! Ris came to visit Babs and enjoy the pool and the palm trees and partaking in pickle ball, pickle purchasing and more! And now you know - Ris and Babs love pickles and uh, so did Jesus! Please listen and enjoy!

Hot Men Killing People

You will have to do a deep listen to understand the name of this episode. As usual, Ris and Babs discuss the wide world of sports (specifically tennis and the NFL) along with important life updates involving unicorns and seeing one another in person. Sprinkle in a bit of movie talk and the ongoing state of our economy, along with MB’s Corner, and you have a mega episode! You don’t have to listen to it all in one go, but when you do listen, please enjoy!

March Ennui Saved by Science: A Babs Mini-sode

Hello A Walk in the Park podcast listeners. Here is another Babs Mini-sode where she struggles with the meaning of life (a classic mid-life crisis, perhaps) and cheers herself up with sharing her love of Scientfic American. This mini-sode launches from ennui and existential angst to psychedelic toad venom to critical race theory, the right-to-repair movement, and more. Please listen and enjoy!

Tirade Talking: Our Longest Episode

Hello, A Walk in the Park podcast listeners. Welcome to our longest episode ever. What can we say? Many things are afoot in this crazy wide world of ours: Tennis (always), Tom Brady (unreal), The NFL (all over the place), Wine (yum!), Ukraine ($%*!@$ Putin!), Gas prices (perspective), the Oscars (episode recorded before The Slap Heard Round the World). You don’t have to listen all in one sitting, but when you do listen, please enjoy!
